Onde Onde

Why do I like it so much? Not because I'm from Melaka but it is tasty, cheap and easy to make. One day in a month of Ramadhan,  I and my friend walked around Pasar Ramadhan in Kuala Lumpur to find food for Iftar. I was a student that time and my economy wasn’t that good. In my pocket I only have just enough. While looking for something to eat we have found ‘Kuih Buah Melaka’. 10 Balls for RM1.00(that time). We bought 50 balls that time, brought back to hostels and shared with other starving friends. Nice, RM5 can make everybody happy. That is one true story.

Buah Melaka Filling

250 g Glutinous rice flour
120 ml warm water
2 tablespoons Screwpine(Pandan) leave juice
1 piece of Gula Melaka (cut into small pieces)
100 g grated coconut
A pinch of salt

Method:
Pour the warm water into the glutinous rice, pandan leaves juice and salt and mix until forms dough. Then, form small size balls and fill them with a piece of gula melaka and seal them up. In boiling water put the balls and take them out once floated. Coat the balls with grated coconut and serve immediately.
