Roti Canai or Roti Paratha

Last Sunday, we had Roti Canai with Dhal for our breakfast. I am not going to lie about this, but it was instant Roti Canai that I bought from Asian Market store. It’s not difficult to prepare Roti Canai from scratch however my limited kitchen space prevents me from doing so.

Roti Canai
In Malaysia, Roti Canai can be easily found in any Malay and Mamak stalls. However Malaysian like me who is living abroad, well instant Roti Canai is the answer.

There are many instant Roti Canai available in the market. My recommendation is Kart's. Why? It is so fluffy and is provided with Dhal sauce.

Anyway, if any of you would like to try from scratch just follow the instruction below:

INGREDIENTS:

2 cups of plain flour
1/2 cup of Ghee (Minyak Sapi)
salt to taste
1 cup of water

HOW TO:

In a bowl, mix flour, ghee and salt. Add water and knead until dough is smooth and not sticky. Oil your hands with cooking oil and make the dough into small sized balls. Rest the dough for 2-3 hours. Leave overnight for ultimate satisfaction. Once dough is ready, flatten and flip dough before frying. See below video for reference.
