el Toro Butchery & Grill
We had steaks for lunch at el Toro Butchery & Grill. It was our first time eating in a butchery environment, so it was awesome!. At el Toro they serves tender and delicious premium meat from Australia. I was a carnivore that day and therefore doesn’t care about other things except for quality of the meat.

To be honest, I was a little bit nervous walking into el Toro. I was nervous because of the butchery concept and the choices of meat, and the most importantly, I am not a steak expert! That’s why. Thing will surely go wrong (that what I have thought anyway), but actually, nothing to be worried. At el Toro, information are everywhere; on the wall, on the menu and even their staffs are friendly and very helpful too!

Tenderloin - Medium RM22 / 100g
Ok, first, let me share with you about the cuts & types of meat that I have learned and available at el Toro; they are as per below,

Wagyu
A Japanese breed of cattle originally from Kobe, known for its very fine marbling and high fat content. Considered to be the most tender meat.

Black Angus
A breed of cattle originally from Scotland, known for its fine marbling. Generally more tender and has a stronger ‘Meaty’ flavor than normal grass feed beef.

Grain Fed Beef
Cattle fed on corn, wheat & barley produces beef of a consistent quality with a slighty ‘sweeter’ flavor.

Rib-Eye
This cut is succulent, juicy and has excellent texture. Consistently marbled and can contain some fat.

Sirloin
Probably the most flavorsome cut. It is firm in texture and generally has a strip of fat attached to it.

Tenderloin
Considered as the most tender cut. Very lean meat with little or no fat. Has a mild flavor to it.

Wagyu -Medium Well  RM55/100g
So, now you know. Next , let’s look at the level of doneness;

Blue
Only for the true meat connoisseur.

Rare
Grilled on the outside, juicy and with a darker tone of red on the inside.

Medium Rare
Grilled on the outside, still juicy but with a lighter tone of red on the inside.

Medium
Grilled through with a pinkish tone on the inside.

Medium Well
Cooked through, but tends to dry out with a diminishing flavor.
