Butter Fried Rice (Nasi Goreng Mentega)

Nasi Goreng or Fried Rice is the easiest dish on my menu but yet is the most popular amongst Asian food fans. There are several type of fried rice such as Chinese fried rice, Egg fried rice, Pattaya fried rice, Kampung(village) fried rice, Hailam fried rice and many more.

It is my turn to prepare our breakfast and I need to make it quick, simple and most importantly suitable for my little Safia. For that reason, Butter fried rice will be the menu. As simple as it is, Butter fried rice can be served in several ways. I like to have my Butter fried rice with bird’s eye chillies(cabai burung) finely chopped in sweet soy sauce as condiment.

Nasi Goreng ButterINGREDIENTS:
3 cups of boiled rice
2 full spoons of butter
1 egg
2 springs onion (finely sliced and separate bottom and upper part)
1 clove of shallot (finely chopped)
2 cloves of garlic (finely chopped)
2 star anise
Salt to taste

HOW TO:
Heat butter on a frying pan and fry shallot and garlic until fragrant. Then bottom part of spring onions and star anise. Continue to fry for about 2 minutes. Add rice and stir to mix. Make a hole in the middle and add egg into it. Again, stir to mix. Finally add the upper part of spring onions and some salt to taste. Continue to stir until all ingredients are thoroughly mixed.
